Abstract
This study titled 'assessment of digital library services and their impact on research and
learning in Ekanem I. Braide library, Federal University Lafia, aim to examine the rate of utilization of the available digital library resources and its impact on research productivity
and learning outcomes in Ekanem I. Braide Library in Federal University of Lafia. The study
employed descriptive survey design which enhance the collection of large data from
respondents. The population of the study consist of undergraduate students, postgraduate
students, academic staff and library staff. The study also adopts Cochran population sample
size and simple random technique. Questionnaire were the instrument used for data
collection and was administer online using different students' platforms and analyzed
using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, means, and standard
deviations. The findings of this study reveal that digital library services at Ekanem I. Braide
Library, Federal University Lafia play a significant role in enhancing both research
productivity and learning outcomes. The study recommended among others that: The
university should invest in improving ICT infrastructure, including reliable internet
connectivity and adequate computer facilities, to enhance access to digital library services.
Regular training and orientation programs should be organized to improve users' digital
literacy and information retrieval skills. Adequate funding should be allocated to support
the maintenance and development of digital library systems, Library staff should receive
continuous professional development to ensure effective delivery and management of
digital library services among others.
