Abstract
The study investigated age and gender-related stress on library staff job performance in
tertiary institutions in Cross River State, Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted for
the study. The population of the study comprised of 352 library staff from four tertiary
institutions in the State. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 200 staff as
sample for the study. Stress and Library Staff Job Performance Questionnaire (SLSJPQ) was
the instrument for data collection. Out of 200 copies of the instrument distributed to the
respondents, 188 was successfully completed and retrieved, representing 94% success
rate. The reliability estimate of the instruments was established through the Cronbach
Alpha reliability method. The reliability coefficient ranged from 0.75 to 0.89. Simple linear
regression analysis was the statistical technique used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of
