Abstract
The study examined the influence of digital technologies on security of students' records in
public universities in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. Three research questions were
raised to guide the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The
area of the study was Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. The population for the study
consisted of 38 ICT unit personnel in the universities under study. Total enumeration
sampling technique was used for the study. Questionnaire was used for data collection. The
researcher with the help of research assistants from the institutions administered the
questionnaire to the respondents. Data collected were analysed using simple regression
analysis. The findings from the data analyses showed that digital technologies influence the
security of students' records. It was concluded that universities should endeavour to secure
their students' records using the digital technologies. It was recommended among others
that the universities management should provide adequate funds for regular updating of
the institution's database that hosts students' records.
